Hi, I’m Sahar (Founder & CEO, LUS Brands).

This is my mom and I on a mother-daughter birthday cruise (her 60th, my 35th). This was taken right before I launched my company with a groundbreaking 3-Step System designed to simplify curly hair care.

At this point, I had been wearing my hair curly for 20 years. My mom? She was just starting out.

We had already nailed our formulations and I had received incredible feedback from early product testers. But they weren’t “working” on my mom’s hair (according to her). 

On this trip, I got to watch her apply the products to her head and I was shocked. “Why are you doing it like THAT?” That’s when I realized that she was completely new to styling her own curly hair, as she had been straightening it her whole life. 

So one day, I styled her hair following some basic but important curly hair styling principles and voilá!  She went from this (left) to this (right). She couldn’t believe the results and she was sad that she had spent her whole life straightening these beautiful curls out.
